So our guys are in bloody Belfast! Here is costume supervisor, Tom Bronson, talking a little bit about the “Reaper Cuts” the guys wear in Belfast, as well as about the meanings of the pins and what makes each cut unique. Thanks for the insight, Tom!

I believe the larger pin on Clays vest (or cut as mentioned, never heard this term before) is a pin the 101st “screaming eagles” airborn division of the army wears. I cant recall if it is given after 1st jump, but I believe so.
By elly on November 8th, 2010 at 6:03 pmI think the pin is club-related rather than army-related.
It does look like a pair of wings, it also looks to have some red color to it.
I have heard of “red wings” as something that can be “earned” by performing a specific task, along with “brown wings” and “black wings”.
As for the specific tasks involved, I’ll refer you to a book by Hunter S. Thompson from 1966.
By boo boo on November 30th, 2010 at 1:28 amThe large pin on Clay’s vest is indeed an Army insignia. It signifies he was airborne while enlisted. I can’t make out the smaller pin to the right of that, but chances are it has something to do with his prior service (I know this because I’m in the Army)
